Situated in a small hamlet in the Normandie-Maine
Regional Natural Park between the towns of Flers and
La Ferté-Macé, Maison Laudiere, run by Carole and
Nigel, has 3 bedrooms (a kingsize, double and twin
bedded room), each with modern en-suite shower
rooms, tea and coffee making facilities and all have
views towards the forest (Forêt des Andaines). Not
far from the ferry ports of Caen, Cherbourg and Le
Havre, Maison Laudiere is a good base for those
touring Normandy or house-hunting in the region.
The local area has some superb
motorcycling roads and a variety of recreational
activities including forest walks, cycling or golf.
The town of Bagnoles de L’Orne with its spa and many
restaurants is close by, whilst Mont St Michel, Le
Mans and the Normandy beaches are less than two
hours ride away.
As a motorcyclist of some 30 years
and having ridden several thousand miles through
Europe, I can certainly recommend a visit to France
for its great roads and countryside.
For those of you who have not
ventured abroad before a foray into Normandy is a
great place to start.
There is a large parking area to
the front of the house and although a gravel finish
is firm enough for motorcycles. Standing in the
garden is an old 'colombage' (stone and timber
building) that is divided into two rooms inside and
provides secure and dry parking for up to four
motorcycles.
