 'Chain Link' Grading & Comments

All of the establishments listed within the Bike Stay directory are motorcycle friendly and welcome motorcyclists.

To enable, easier site use, Bike Stay has just introduced a Motorcycle Friendly Grading System for use by our site visitors to easily see at a glance, those establishments which offer the most facilities specifically for the touring motorcyclist.

We decided on using a motorcycle chain for our grading system, the number of coloured links show at a glance the Bike Stay rating for each establishment.

 How does it work?

Up to 5 links will be 'coloured' in the chain image.
With 5 chain links being the most motorcycle facilities available, points awarded for all of the motorcycle facilities which are provided.

Accommodations are awarded points for the number of facilities for motorcyclists.
Each link is worth 20 points in our grading system.
Grading points can be awarded on the following facilities.

  • Motorcycle Parking availability and type, garaged, covered, secure, off road, away from view of road, including space for motorcycle trailers and motorcycle specific security.
  • Laundry facilities, washing, ironing & drying of riding gear and casual gear.
  • Housekeeping facilities - including providing hairdryers, towels, linen, toiletries as applicable for self catering and b&b establishments.
  • Vehicle cleaning facilities, washing facilities (from a bucket and a sponge to washer systems) and space for general riding maintenance
  • Storage facilities for bulky luggage, panniers (soft and solid) and for bulky motorcycle clothing.

All our accommodations are motorcycle friendly, and the grading system does not reflect on the accommodation alone, simply on the specific facilities for motorcyclists.

Why do some establishments not have ratings?

The rating system has recently been introduced to Bike Stay, we are grading each establishment by region.
Full ratings for all regions should be in place very soon.

 Comments

Our comments system has been introduced late May 2007, as we have been receiving lots of emails from our users raving about some great accommodation. Our programmers have recently upgraded our comments system, comments received prior to August 2009, may show up with a more recent date.
