Lago Verde was once a simple healthy farmland which has now been transformed into a comfortable lodging. Surrounded by green pasture and beautiful countryside, this recently constructed place makes use of local stone, wood, old style ceramics, and wrought iron to hark back to the old times. The small town of Alia, a typical picturesque countryside village with earth colours and narrow winding streets, can be admired from the large terraces of Lago Verde. Situated between three main centres -Palermo, Agrigento and Cefalu – Lago Verde is ideal as a base to discover the many faces of the Palermitan province. Although little known these past cultures are certainly no less fascinating. The contrasting scenaries stretch from the Cefalu seaside, the hills of the Madonnie and the feudal castles standing testimony to the history of our interland.

Getting to Lago Verde by car is easy. If coming from the capital Palermo, one needs to take the Palermo-Agrigento freeway and then take the “Enna” exit, following the signs to Roccapalumba-Alia. If coming from Catania, simply take the autostrada to Palermo, the “Resuttano” exit and then follow the SS121. If coming from Messina, take the Messina-Palermo autostrada, exit at “Buonfornello” and follow the SS113 to Cerda. From there follow the signs to Alia.
 


 

Al lago verde, una sana e semplice terra rurale coltivata a frutteto, uliveto e ortaggi trasformata in una confortevole ospitalità recentemente ristrutturata in modo da ricavarne 6 stanze e una splendida cucina in muratura, circondata da bellissime campagne e verdi pascoli. La pietra viva, il legno il ferro battuto, la ceramica rimandano tutti al passato facendo rivivere gli ambienti, con il fascino e il valore di una volta. Dalle grandi terrazze, si può ammirare un bellissimo panorama, di cui si scorge il pittoresco e piccolo paese di Alia, tipico borgo rurale con basse case dai colori dalla terra che si affacciano su strade tortuose. Dal lago verde posta al centro tra Palermo, Agrigento e Cefalù è possibile scoprire i resti di civiltà millenaria o addentrarsi nel territorio della provincia di Palermo, sicuramente poco conosciuto ma non per questo meno affascinante, con i suoi tanti contrasti, dal mare di Cefalù alle incantevoli vette delle madonie ai castelli feudali testimonianza dell’antica storia del nostro entroterra.
