Lake Taupo is the largest fresh water lake in NZ, and
world-renowned for the fine trout fishing it offers. Country
Lodge Kinloch is located on a 10 acre lifestyle block at the
North end of the Lake, an easy 15 minute bike ride from Taupo
Township. Overlooking the lakeside village of Kinloch, it
offers extensive views over the Western Bays and out to the
Karangahape Cliffs beyond- and the peace and quiet of a
beautiful rural location.
Country Lodge Kinloch has both in-house B&B
Accomodation, and also self-catering facilities in a replica
Early Settlers cottage in the valley below the main house.
This is fully self-contained with everything provided - all
that is required if you wish to 'eat in' is your own food.
Supplies are available at the local store at Kinloch (4km
away) during normal trading hours. Taupo is often called the
'adventure capital of the North Island', and offers everything
from Tandem Parachuting and Bungy Jumping to adrenalin pumping
jet boating action on the picturesque Waikato River in Huka
Jet or Rapids Jet. Parasailing over the Lake, geothermal
activity and International Golf Courses are all part of the
mix.
The Central North Island is a motorcycling
paradise - good surfaces, sweeping curves and little traffic
all make for a great ride (we know - we own and ride a
BMWR1100RT ourselves!). There are some great rides down the
Desert Road to 'the mountains' (2 hours), across the ranges to
Hawkes Bay wine country (11/2 hours), or over to Rotorua, the
geothermsl wonderland of NZ (1 hour). Security for your bike
is not an issue at our property - we have parking well off the
road, and if required, can offer parking in our big lock-up
barn, which is adjacent the main house.
