Located near the Forest of Dean seven miles from Gloucester,
Laurel Cottage is tucked away in the grounds of an
18-century farmhouse in the sleepy hamlet of Chaxhill.
There’s a double and single bedroom, lounge with wood
burner, TV, DVD, HiFi, board games, PlayStation, books and
comfy sofas. Enjoy the well- equipped kitchen or BBQ in the
private patio garden.
Parking is off road and for the really
paranoid among you there are stables to house your bikes
among other machines including an 1150GS, an Enfield and an
NSU Quickly.
Although located in rural Gloucestershire,
nearby there are many good country pubs and restaurants, the
closest three are just one mile away. The local shop and
Rick Stein favourite, the Severn & Wye Smokery, supply the
basics plus mouth-watering fish and game. Nearby villages
provide everything else. The Forest of Dean and numerous
Cotswolds towns and villages are within easy riding distance
including Regency Cheltenham, Ross on Wye, and Ledbury.
Nearby are several vantage points for
watching the phenomenal "Severn Bore". Surfers and canoeists
ride this amazing tidal wave as it rolls up the river. The
not so energetic can watch the Bore from the local hostelry
of the same name, while the energetic can climb Garden
Cliff, and (if you bring wellington boots - because it is
always muddy). At the foot of the cliff when the tide is out
find fossils and sharks teeth or collect coprolites
(fossilised dinosaur dung!), fool's gold, and the amazing
"devil's toenails".
